i almost used that for my title. he ended up he and his entire family were brutally gruesomely murdered. they were be headed, his children were killed as well, and it was a big sensational story at the time. you can go through the free press archives and find all this coverage and it was never solved. at a certain point i realized it was not far from where i was living so i walked over to check it out and where his house was, so i filed that way and we're the enough, probably a year later there was another murder almost literally across the street. it was a drug thing and these kids were trying to -- their ridge two rival drug houses, they were trying -- these two teenagers were trying to scare off radicals and to do this they ended up killing and then dismembering this guy and scattering body parts around literally across the street from this other murder. again, that was history repeating itself in a way that i found fascinating. i went to the trial and i don't normally cover murder trials. sort of -- i don't know

we'll hear from the mcdonnell family who graciously invited us into their home to tell us about their bright, talented 7-year-old daughter grace. grace was laid to rest today. her funeral today. there were also funerals for olivia and for dylan and for mary and for rachel. we remember them all. dylan hockley moved to newtown from england just two years ago. he was 6 yearsoles old. a special needs child, his parents chose this community for the good reputation of the sandy hook elementary school. dylan flourished at sandy hook thanks in large part to his special education teacher anne marie murphy who works with him one-on-one. the houckleys kept a picture of ann marie rr on their fridge, and he would point to it every day. on friday, he died in her arms as she tried to shield him. his parents say they take great comfort in knowing he wasn't alone when he died. he loved to cuddle, play tag, and bounce on the trampoline. he idolized his older brother who was his best friend, his role model. his parents say they cherish the time they shared with him in newtown. our boys have flourished h

give us the details. what is he proposing? >> well, i have to tell you, a few minutes ago, president obama landed in hawaii, 72 degrees there was the temperature on the ground. certainly warmer than it is in washington, certainly warmer than the political climate that president obama left behind here here in washington. it was a strip down agreement. he basically is saying we have to come up with some solution to help the majority of american taxpayers while we still avoid coming up with the majority of the details for what was supposed to help us avoid the fiscal cliff. it would ensure tax rates would not go up for 98% of americans, it would also ensure that unemployment benefits would be extended for about 2 million americans who would lose them otherwise if we went over the fiscal cliff. finally, it would work to lay the groundwork for the larger reform. so if we're looking for specific details here, not a whole lot of them. this is coming up with almost an emergency solution. we know that president obama did speak by phone
